Blogging to the Bank in 10 Steps
When I read the first version of this ebook, I didn’t do very much with it. I wasn’t quite ready, most likely.
Now, I just finished Blogging to the Bank 3.0, (which I purchased about 6 months ago). This time it makes a lot more sense. Maybe I’m more prepared.
It’s still a little on the rich side, as far as content goes. But, I understand it well enough to say there are 10 steps Rob Benwell takes us through to get the blog up, running, and making money.
His goal is to explain how to make money by blogging. His path to this goal begins at zero.
Here are the steps as I see them in his report.
1. Research–This part gets you started by doing research into the proposed market, area or niche you are considering.
2. Info product to sell–Once you are sure about your niche, find a digital product to sell.
3. Hosting–You can get good hosting for $10 a month or less. He recommends his favorite.
4. Install WordPress–If you don’t want to learn this step, relax. Good web hosting includes the automatic installation of WordPress from the Fantastico part of the control panel. (If this last sentence was too dense, sorry. We must move on.)
5. Theme–Choosing a theme for your blog can be free, inexpensive, or a little pricey. Even the premium themes are under $100.
6. RSS–They call it Real Simple Syndication. Ha, ha. Someday, when I understand it, I’ll write about it.
7. Squeeze Widget–This is my term. It’s like a squeeze page, but small enough to fit in the side bar. This is how your reader can opt in to your email list.
8. Thanks letter, page and auto responder–These go together. They represent what happens when someone opts in to your email list by filling in the squeeze widget.
9. Titles, tags, categories & keywords–All these help optimize your blog for the search engines.
10. Content–This is the biggest job, of course. In my opinion, it’s best if you have something to say. Use words by typing, talking or video. There are other ways to get content, also.
Of these 10 steps, none are quick and easy, unless you have done them before. Rob Benwell explains this stuff about as well as anyone.
I have no doubt I’ll be going back to the ebook and my notes as I continue improving my blog.
